The Local Association of the Year Award recognizes the local MTA that makes the most significant contributions to the music teaching profession through participation in MTNA national programs and additional programs
established within its state and local area.

Local associations may self-nominate themselves for the Local Association of the Year Award. If you wish your local association to be considered for this award, please contact your state president (some states already recognize their state's local association of the year and may automatically choose to submit that winning local association). Your state president (or a selected committee) will need to determine which local association will be sent forward as each state may nominate only ONE local association for this national award.

The following materials must be mailed to MTNA National Headquarters NO LATER than December 1st:

• Nominating letter from your State President
• Cover letter from the President/Chair of the Local Association
• 3 sets of materials that support the application
  (This may include items such as: newspaper clippings of local events copies of programs, student events, or other activities that reflect the programming and mission of your local association.)

With such an easy submission process, every local association should be applying, and I hope every state will choose to nominate one of its local affiliates. A committee has been appointed and is awaiting your materials. The funds are there for the taking! It would be so sad to pass up this opportunity to receive recognition and funding for work that your organization is already doing.
