Teacher Enrichment Grants of up to $750 are available for private study, specific college-level course work or projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory and composition. The grant is not intended to be used to pursue course work toward a degree, for travel funds or for ongoing projects. The number of grants awarded in any year is determined by the number of qualified applicants and available funds.

Below is a sampling of the projects awarded a 2018 MTNA Teacher Enrichment grant. The MTNA Foundation Fund was able to fund 46 Teacher Enrichment Grants for a total of $31,526.00.

  • Study Geza Szilvay's Kodaly-based violin instruction
  • Infant-Pre K music classes
  • Attend Responsive Classroom workshop
  • Private lessons with a certified instructor of the Taubman Approach through the Golandsky Institute
  • Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory
  • Learn the Dancing Dots method of piano instruction and take courses in music braille offered by Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
  • Baltimore Chamber Orchestra Conducting Program with Markand Thakar
  • Private flute instruction with an emphasis on overcoming injury
  • Russian Opera Workshop—Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin
  • Understanding the Classical Style: Fortepiano lessons with David Kim
