Grants are provided to music teachers for private study, specific college-level course work or other projects that will enhance the performing and teaching skills of the applicant.

Teacher Enrichment Grants may be used for private study, college-level course work or special projects in performance, pedagogy, music theory and composition. The grant is not intended to be used to pursue course work toward a degree, for travel funds or for ongoing projects. However, a grant may be approved for one additional year at the discretion of the Teacher Enrichment Grant Evaluation Committee. The number of grants awarded in any year is determined by the number of qualified applicants and available funds.

Project Description:
Suzuki teacher training for Violin I at Greater Washington Suzuki Institute.

Piano Seminar
Project Description: 
Attending Lawrence University's special seminar called “Piano Teaching in the 21st Century.”

Piano Lessons
Project Description: 
Lessons of private piano and pedagogy instruction.

Music Theory Workshop
Project Description:
Attend the Music Mind Games Unit 2 one-week, 30-hour workshop.

Workshop Retreats
Project Description:
Participate in the first level of a series of four-level workshop retreats called Deeper Performance Studies with classical pianist and recording artist Frederic Chiu.

Diversity Workshop
Project Description:
Workshop for inner city children and international refugees to help the children learn more about the traditional music and dance of their cultures.

Celtic Week
Project Description:
Attend the Swannanoa Gathering Celtic Week in Asheville North Carolina to study Irish Fiddle with the great County Clare fiddler Martin Hayes.

Community Choir Leadership Training
Project Description:
Attend a two week Community Choir Leadership training in Victoria, British Columbia to bring more singing into the studio.

Alaskan Adventure
Project Description:
Participate in the “Composing in the Wilderness” program that facilitates the creation and performance of a new chamber music work inspired by the Alaskan Wilderness.

Piano Compositions
Project Description:
Prepare several of piano compositions for publication with student performers in mind.

Recital
Project Description:
Perform a recital program specifically devoted to the music of Cesar Franck.

Children’s Book
Project Description:
Research and write a book about Forty Famous Composers for children.

Flute CD
Project Description:
Record flute CD in order to develop skills as a professional musician and also develop her ability to collaborate with other Taiwanese composers.

Children’s Choir
Project Description:
Take 25-hour long private lessons in vocal technique with a local teacher who also has experience in choral direction.

Pedagogical Studies
Project Description:
Study with a master teacher to further pedagogical studies in the area of developing male voices.

Certification
Project Description:
Attend the World Music Pedagogy certification offered through the Smithsonian at the University of Washington Seattle.

Golandsky Institute
Project Description:
Attend a seminar through the Golandsky Institute or a private certified teacher of Taubman Approach.

MTNA National Certification
Project Description:
Study privately with a piano teacher who is NCTM certified in order to become nationally certified.

Haitian Folk Songs
Project Description:
Study and transcribe five Haitian folk songs for beginning piano and also (separately) for beginning string ensemble.

Private Study
Project Description:
Private study with Dr. Victoria Fischer of Elon University to enhance knowledge of advanced piano literature and pedagogical approaches.

Violin Retreat
Project Description:
Attend the Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers at Indiana University.

Gordon Institute for Musical Learning
Project Description:
Attend a Level 1 Professional Development Course in Piano with Marilyn Lowe and Jennifer Fisher at the Brookline Music School in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Piano Pedagogy
Project Description: 
Independent study course in Piano Pedagogy at Bethel College from Dr. Vicki Warkentien.

Piano Technique Repertoire
Project Description: 
Study piano technique repertoire and pedagogy with Mary Jane Clarke, NCTM.

Colorado Suzuki Institute
Project Description: 
Participate in a Piano Practicum at Colorado Suzuki Institute with Fay Adams in June 2017.

Theory and Composition Class
Project Description: 
Learn how to teach a class that combines theory and composition using traditional as well as contemporary harmony.

Suzuki Piano
